A group of students from the Santa Clara Unified School District has developed an innovative headband prototype designed to consistently monitor concussions. This project is part of their participation in the Thermo Fisher Scientific Junior Innovators Challenge (JIC), where they were recognized as one of the Top 300 Junior Innovators for 2024.

The students involved in this project include Vansh Bahety, Pranay Bokde, Lavernie Chen, Ruhi Kelkar, Advika Pathak, Adwita Ram, Noah Song, and Jiya Tejura. They are part of the 49ers STEM Leadership Institute at Cabrillo Middle and Santa Clara High School. Their entry was selected from over 1,800 submissions from across the nation.

The headband prototype aims to improve the detection and monitoring of concussions, which is critical for safety in sports and other activities. More details about their projects and the Junior Innovators Challenge can be found on the Santa Clara Unified School District’s website.
