Rescue Mission Saves Man from Grain Silo Fall
Staff Report / FTWlocal.org
On the night of [insert date], at approximately 11:45 PM, the Fort Worth Fire Department received an emergency call regarding an individual who had fallen more than 10 feet inside an abandoned grain silo at 1937 South Main Street.
Fire crews arrived at the scene and quickly requested a high angle rescue response due to the difficult access to the patient, who was located several stories high within the silos. Medics provided treatment to the individual while still at the elevated location.
The Fire Department's Technical Rescue Teams (TRT) responded to the incident and utilized specialized equipment to prepare the patient for removal. The individual was hoisted up from the 5th story window using rope systems and then safely lowered to the ground by crews operating Tower 8.
After being brought down to ground level, the patient was transported to a local hospital and is currently in serious condition.
The Fort Worth Fire Department urges everyone to stay safe.
