The San Diego School District has set specific goals for student outcomes as part of their Student Outcomes Focused Governance. These goals outline what students are expected to know and be able to do upon graduating high school. To support these goals, the district has established "guardrails," which are actions the community has emphasized to ensure that their values are upheld during the process.

Over the past year, the Board of Education and district leaders have actively engaged with students, staff, and family members to gather input on the community’s vision for student achievement. This collaboration has led to the creation of measurable goals, alongside the aforementioned guardrails.
