**Alexandria Police Share Holiday Safety Tips to Avoid Package Theft**

ALEXANDRIA, LOUISIANA - The Alexandria Police Department has issued a reminder to residents to stay vigilant during the holiday season due to an increase in package thefts, commonly referred to as the work of "Porch Pirates."

In their statement, the department noted that package theft typically rises during this time of year when many residents order gifts and other items for the holidays. To help prevent theft, the Alexandria Police suggest tracking your deliveries closely and retrieving packages as soon as possible after they are dropped off.

Traveling during the holidays? The police recommend making arrangements to have your packages delivered to a trusted neighbor or a secure delivery locker to reduce the risk of theft.

The Alexandria Police Department continues to share these tips as part of their effort to keep residents and their belongings safe this holiday season.
