**Union County Officials Attend Mental Health Training Event**

Union County Commissioner Chairwoman Lourdes Leon and Commissioner Kimberly Palmieri-Mouded participated in a "Train the Trainer" event hosted by the Union County Prosecutor’s Office. The program took place at the John H. Stamler Police Academy in Scotch Plains.

The Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training event was led by the National Council for Mental Wellbeing. This organization has certified Union County first responders and employees in MHFA, aiming to equip participants with the tools needed to assist individuals experiencing mental health challenges.

The MHFA Train the Trainer initiative is supported by the ARRIVE Together Grant. As part of the program, the Union County Prosecutor’s Office has made MHFA certification a standard training requirement for every recruit class at the Union County Police Academy. This initiative ensures that future law enforcement officers are better prepared to serve the community effectively.

Special recognition was given to the Union County Prosecutor’s Office for their dedication to integrating mental health resources into public service training programs.
