Wake County Volunteers Honored During National Volunteer Week
Wake County Public Schools in Apex, North Carolina, reports that volunteers make a difference in its schools every day. During National Volunteer Week, the district celebrates more than 50,000 registered volunteers who support students and staff across the district. The district thanks volunteers for sharing their time, energy, and love with its school communities.
This week we’ll be shouting out some incredible volunteers across our district, starting with Judy Ellis at Green Magnet Elementary. Here’s what first-grade teacher Kaleigh-Scarlett Hopper shared about her impact:
“Ms. Ellis has been the foster grandparent in my room for four years! She fosters relationships with my students and makes every student feel welcome. Ms. Ellis is always willing to help any student in any subject. My class loves her so much! We wouldn't be complete without her.”

Wake County Board of Elections finishes packing materials for retention.
RALEIGH, N.C. — The Wake County Board of Elections says it has finished packing up election materials for secure retention after the March Primary and is now inventorying and preparing other supplies for the next election, as nearly 2,000 voter cards were mailed this week, bringing the total mailed since the March Primary to more than 20,000.
