Brighton Fire Rescue trains on vehicle stabilization
Brighton Fire Rescue crews took part in their annual extrication training, focusing on vehicle stabilization as a critical step in rescue work.
The department said firefighters must first make sure a vehicle is secure and cannot shift or move before using tools. It said the practice is meant to help protect trapped occupants and rescuers.
Brighton Fire Rescue said the crews practiced stabilization techniques and extrication skills in a controlled environment to stay prepared to free patients safely and efficiently. The department noted that the training is intended to help when “every second counts.”
Brighton Fire Rescue thanked Den Towing Specialists, Red's Towing, T&R Auto Repair & Towing, and MB Auto Body for supplying vehicles for the training. The department also thanked the City of Brighton, Colorado Government for letting it borrow a loader.
