House Fire in Fort Worth Successfully Controlled by Firefighters

Reviewed by Valencia Perez / FTWlocal.org

Earlier this morning, the Fort Worth Fire Department responded to a house fire on Portales Avenue. The occupant of the residence was able to escape before the firefighters arrived on the scene. Upon arrival, Quint 23 encountered heavy smoke and began to fight the fire from inside the house. A second hose line was used to prevent the fire from spreading to neighboring homes.

Firefighters inside the house worked to extinguish the fire in the attic by pulling down ceilings to access the flames. Additionally, they searched for several dogs inside the home. Once found, three dogs were rescued and given medical attention by a MedStar crew. Unfortunately, one of the dogs did not survive.

The blaze was successfully brought under control within approximately 20 minutes by the combined efforts of nine fire units. Remember to prioritize safety, Fort Worth residents. #fortworth.
