Cornell Uses AI to Count Endangered Right Whales
A Cornell-led team has developed a new method to count North Atlantic right whales using underwater microphones and machine learning. The technique estimates whale numbers by analyzing their sounds, offering a safer and more cost-effective way to monitor the endangered species. The research was carried out at Cornell University in Ithaca and aims to support efforts to protect these whales.
