**Three Lufkin Road Middle School Teachers Awarded APSF Grants**

The Apex Public School Foundation (APSF) has awarded grants to support innovative educational initiatives by three teachers at Lufkin Road Middle School in Apex, North Carolina. The APSF, a nonprofit organization, provides funding to enhance the educational experiences of students across the Apex area within Wake County, including three high schools, five middle schools, and 11 elementary schools.

Eighth-grade teacher Jennifer Lomelino and media specialist Traci Snyder received the 2023 APSF Teacher Grant for their project titled *Mirrors, Windows & Doors.* The $2,500 grant will fund the purchase of diverse books to support multilingual learners at the school. The books, including graphic novels in students' home languages, aim to represent and reflect the cultural and linguistic diversity of the student body.

Additionally, career development coordinator Jessica McQuaig was presented with the Karen Sinders Memorial Teacher Grant for her project, *Advancing Biomedical Literacy Through Technology-Enhanced Learning.* This $1,700 grant will be used to buy virtual reality headsets, which will enable students to explore various career paths through immersive technology. McQuaig is the first teacher at Lufkin Road Middle to receive this grant, named in memory of Karen Sinders, a committed educator and community leader.

These grants underscore APSF's commitment to fostering innovation and inclusivity in education for Apex-area students.
