Wake County Students Earn Seven National Merit Scholarships

Seven students from Wake County Public Schools have been awarded National Merit Scholarships sponsored by their future colleges and universities. The awardees include students from Apex High School, Enloe Magnet High School, Wakefield High School, and Holly Springs High School.

Isaac Cariani of Apex High School received a scholarship from Bowdoin College with a noted career interest in academia. At Enloe Magnet High School, Bhargav Chowdary was honored by the University of Southern California for his ambitions in computer science, while Tanmai Ram Darbha earned a scholarship sponsored by the University of South Carolina with a focus on medicine. Also at Enloe, Kriti K. Nandakumar received recognition from Purdue University and Kate Phan was awarded a scholarship from the University of Texas at Dallas, with career goals in mechanical engineering and biomedicine, respectively.

Jacquelyn P. Regan from Wakefield High School was recognized by the University of Georgia with a focus on genetics. In addition, Holly Springs High School student Grace Bartels was awarded a scholarship from the University of Alabama and plans to pursue a career in mathematics.
