Salisbury Offices Closed July 3 for Independence Day
In observance of Independence Day, all City of Salisbury government offices will be closed on Friday, July 3, 2026.
The City said administrative offices will be closed, but the Salisbury Zoo will remain open during the holiday weekend.
The City also pointed to Independence Day weekend events in Salisbury tied to the nation’s 250th anniversary celebration. On Saturday, July 4, Salisbury is partnering with the organizers of Red, White and Boom at James M. Bennett High School. The free event includes food, music, games and family activities from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., followed by fireworks at 9:15 p.m.
On Sunday, July 5, Poplar Hill Mansion will host its America250 Potluck Picnic from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The City said community members are invited to bring a favorite family recipe, cultural dish or local tradition, or attend and enjoy the gathering. The City said the event is part of the national America250 celebration and is free.
The City said trash and recycling collection services normally scheduled for Friday will move to Saturday, July 4. Residents were reminded to place their containers out by 6 a.m.
The City of Salisbury said it wishes residents and visitors a safe and enjoyable Independence Day weekend.

Salisbury Police K9s Benefit From Dogs on the Dock
The Salisbury, Maryland Police Department says community members showed support for its four-legged K9 officers at Dogs on the Dock. The department said proceeds will fund vests, veterinary care, and other services for police K9s through the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore.

The Salisbury Fire Department responded to an overturn tractor trailer on the Salisbury bypass. The northbound lanes were closed for multiple hours while crews removed debris and the vehicle and Hazmat 1 offloaded fuel.
