Scottsdale athletes begin Special Olympics USA Games

Scottsdale Adaptive Recreation athletes Corey Paskvan and Martha Baracy began competition Tuesday at the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games in Minneapolis, the City of Scottsdale said.

Both athletes are representing the Scottsdale Bobcats. Paskvan is competing in golf, while Baracy is competing in track and field.

The city said their participation brings them to a national stage with thousands of athletes from across the country. It also said the athletes’ progress reflects what Scottsdale’s Adaptive Recreation program provides through year-round opportunities to build confidence, develop skills, and connect with the community through sports, recreation, and enrichment programs.

The city said the athletes carry support from their families, coaches, teammates, and the wider community as competition begins.

The city pointed readers to a video, “Podsdale,” about Adaptive Recreation in Scottsdale: https://youtu.be/beDUytdLnxk.
