October is Bullying Prevention Month: Promote Kindness!
Staff Report / Salisburylocal.org
October is recognized as National Bullying Prevention Month, with special observances throughout the month. October 9th marks National Stop Bullying Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness about bullying and encouraging actions to prevent it. Following that, October 16th is designated as National Unity Day, promoting togetherness and solidarity against bullying.
Wicomico County Public Schools emphasizes the importance of discussing bullying with children. Parents are encouraged to educate their children on what constitutes bullying and to report incidents to an adult, whether they are victims or witnesses. The school district promotes kindness, acceptance, and inclusion as key elements to combat bullying in schools.
Resources to further support the cause include a Stop Bullying website, the Choose Kindness Project, and a WCPS Bully Prevention Form for reporting incidents. October is a vital time for communities to come together to foster a safe environment for all students.
