**Paola Capó-García to Be Inaugurated as San Diego’s Poet Laureate**

SAN DIEGO – The City of San Diego and the Department of Cultural Affairs are inviting the public to attend the inauguration of Paola Capó-García as the city’s newest Poet Laureate for 2025-2027. The event will take place on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the San Diego Central Library’s Shiley Special Events Suite, located at 330 Park Avenue.

This celebratory evening will feature poetry readings and a conversation facilitated by Julia Dixon Evans of KPBS. The program will also include appearances by former Poets Laureate Jason Magabo Perez (2022-2024) and Ron Salisbury (2020-2021), who will join Paola Capó-García in a discussion on poetry and its impact on the community.

Paola Capó-García becomes the third Poet Laureate of San Diego, following the distinguished terms of her predecessors. The Poet Laureate program highlights the city’s dedication to recognizing and uplifting literary arts.

This free event is open to the public and provides a unique opportunity to experience live poetry and celebrate San Diego’s rich cultural and artistic community.
